On last 5-7 May 2015, INCLE, in collaboration with The Educating and Equipping Tomorrow's Justice Reformers (E2J), has organized its first Conference on Clinical Legal Education at Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. The conference was attended by approximately 250 participants from academia, Civil Society Organizations (CSO), or representatives of government institutions.
The aims of this conference is to introduce the basic concepts of the Clinical Legal Education (CLE) itsef and its current development in Indonesia, including on the teaching methods, how to build network with the CSOs, the management of legal clinics, and also to share experiences of several universities who have Legal Clinics program as part of their curriculum.
In addition to some plenary and panel sessions, this activity also conducted discussions on Community of Practice which was joined by the CSO community in their respective areas of expertise. The Legal Clinic students also got a chance to have Students' Business Meeting, which expected to be a forum where they can share learning experiences. INCLE is looking forward to also have a league of legal clinics’ students and a strong alumnus network so that they can still contribute to the development of CLE in the future. On the third day, the series of events were closed by the Training of Trainers (ToT), which was only opened for 35 participants. In this ToT, the participants were having a workshop how to develop a Legal Clinics syllabus and teaching methods. The participants also had the chance to visited Legal Clinic classes in Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia.
